YMCA to build Pickleball courts

YMCA?

Hello, everyone! This is Picklewho, your #1 source for Pickleball, a sport that got its name after pickle boats and after a dog named Pickles who LOVED balls. Both stories are 100% true and you can look them up on Telegram.

History aside, these are today’s news:

  • Turns out Pickleball is pro cops

  • Village People were right: YMCA to build Pickleball courts

  • What do you mean there’s a Pickleball-training machine???!!!

This Pickleball tournament will support Law Enforcement.

Hey, I’m as much of a N.W.A fan as every other human, but I’m a Pickleball fan too. So I’m turning off my Straight Outta Compton album for a little while to embrace this news.

The Wichita Metro Crime Commission Law Enforcement Committee will host “Big Dill Party”, a pickleball tournament to support law enforcement initiatives. The entry fee is set at $50.00 for each 2-person team and the event guarantees cash prizes of $150 for the winners, $100 for the runner-ups and $50 for the third team…which, I must say, it’s kinda cheap because they paid that. Come on, cops at least include one of your doughnuts!

Still, I admit that I’m 100%, especially because Big Dill Party is a hilarious name.

“It's fun to stay at the Y.M.C.A….”

Ok, I swear no more references to Village People because then it will be stuck in our heads for 90 business days. young man. Sorry.

I mentioned the song for a reason, though, and that is because the Georgetown YMCA will add four Pickleball courts pretty soon. These courts will come with an extended scholarship program as well, which means that it’s officially fun to stay at the--no, no, no, no. Stop! Not doing this again.

Men vs machine takes over pickleball

Boy, that’s a dramatic headline.

It’s 2023, the year when we’re all officially scared about AI capabilities. So, what could possibly go wrong with a robot that knows how to play Pickleball? The answer is nothing since you’re the one controlling it… For now.

Meet ERNE, a new pickleball training robot which launches balls at a customized speed range from 10 to 65 mph to help you improve your skills. Plus, you can also control other settings such as spin rate and ball elevation using only your phone.

Pair this lovely idea with ChatGPT and let’s see what happens. I’d be scared if I were you, Ben Johns…
