not a tennis player

Hello, readers! Welcome to PickleWho, a website dedicated to Talor Swift’s favorite sport: pickleball.

Legal disclaimer: we don’t actually know if it’s her favorite sport, but it should be.

Here’s the news!

  • This top tennis player is ready to debut in pickleball.

  • Canadian Pro League kicks off!

  • The winners of the 2023 APP Sunmed Sacramento Open

From top tennis player to pro pickleball

Lots of tennis players have decided to try their luck at a real sport. Some of them have succeeded, and some of them just…we applaud the effort. This time, it is Jack Sock's turn to try America’s fastest-growing sport.

Sock isn’t your average tennis player converted into a pickleball pro: he’s a former top 10 singles and doubles world player, Olympic gold medal winner, and ATP Finals winner. He’s a real deal, and he’s not here to play games. In fact, according to Sock himself, his chosen partners for the upcoming North Carolina Open are none other than Tyson McGuffin and Anna Leigh-Waters.

As I told my latest ex: “Though that is not technically cheating, it feels like cheating.”

Canada inaugurates its first pro league

Canada, home of flappy-headed people (at least according to South Park), will soon begin the first season of its National Pickleball League with 8 pro teams.

The pickleball craze caught off Canada after the pandemic. Only in Alberta, there are at least 24 pickleball clubs and 5,100 registered players. With the start of the league, Canada expects to become a close competitor for American pickleball.

I’d say that means war, but they are too polite.

2023 APP Sunmed Sacramento Open recap

With some of the best players in the world and the introduction of top new faces to the pro stage, the 2023 APP Sunmed Sacramento Open (what’s with all these long tournament names??!!) was unquestionably the hottest event of last weekend. And yes, I’m including any OnlyFans event out there.

In the men’s singles division, Yates Jhonson wanted to take revenge after losing to his brother Hunter in the Newport Beach tournament. However, Hunter wasn’t going to make things easy for its little bro. So, after a tense match… lil bro won his first gold medal!

On the women’s side, Judit Castillo –former pro tennis player– sealed the gold medal against Megan Fudge. Surprisingly, she had some help to win her match: the help of an illness that caught Fudge by surprise, forcing her to forfeit the finals and the win.

A sad day for Fudge and I don’t want to say a good one for Castillo. But kinda feels like a one.
