The spin serve is dead

Picklewho

Hello, guys! This is Picklewho, your premium source for Pickleball content and Michelin-star restaurant recipes. The guy we paid to write the Michelin-star recipes was not available, so, today we’re making some simple Cheerios. So:

  1. Grab a bowl

  2. Put some Cheerios in it.

  3. Add milk.

You’re welcome.

And now, back to pickleball news:

  • Pickleball pros can now fill their own stadium: 5,000 members registered in the PPR!

  • The spin serve is dead and it’s time to accept it.

  • L.A. Galaxy welcomes Pickleball to its new park!

5,000 members in the PPR. Next milestone: the whole Earth?

The PPR –which stands for Professional Pickleball Registry, and not Plenty of Puerto Ricans–, just announced a new milestone of 5,000 members. Yes, all of them registered as professional Pickleball players, and yes, at least 1,000 are not true pros. I know ‘cause I’m one of them and the remaining 999 are my cousins. Long family, happy grandma.

The truth is, if you wanna be a certified pickleball professional, you just need to sign up for one of the PPR certification workshops, pay the registration fee… And that’s it!

Is the registration coming with a boost in pickleball skills? Well… No, but it does come with bragging rights and I love it.

R.I.P spin serve

I know, I know… It was people’s favorite serve. The serve no one could ever hit. The serve that made you win countless games and slowly tore up your friends’ group.

And now..now it’s time to let it go, because the USA Pickleball Board of Directors declared it illegal, and the new rule was made effective this year.

So, the next time you see someone unfairly making a spin serve, you have the right to 1) be all nostalgic 2) cry for the good times, 3) declare war on your enemy and 4) proceed to win the game. The last one is optional.

L.A. Galaxy is officially cool: Pickleball courts will be added to its new park.

Let’s face it: as a soccer (I’m not taking that back) team, L.A. Galaxy was kinda cool. They used to have David Beckham, Landon Donovan, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Players who were not only talented, but also handsome.

Now, though…now they are even cooler? Why? Because they did what the world asked to and now they’re adding eight Pickleball courts to their new park in Carson

This does beg the question: “Is it time for us to start watching soccer more regularly?”.

Add a few more Pickleball courts, and maybe we will ;)
