The Official Ball has been announced

Plus: The 2023 APP Mesa Open kicks off

officially official

Hello, everyone! This is Picklewho, the #1 website for pickleball content, and Keanu Reeves' official fan club. Keanu is an inspiration for every +30 year old who wants to move like John Wick, but instead has the moves of Drake in Degrassi.

Anyways, here's the news!!

  • The 2023 APP Mesa Open kicks off.

  • The Amateur Pickleball Association (APA) and the Southern Pickleball Association (SPA) announced their official ball.

  • National Pickleball Month has started!

APP’s third tournament of the year kicks off in Arizona!

Now there’s more to do in Arizona than simply visiting the Grand Canyon because the 2023 APP Mesa Open just started. The event sees more than 1,200 professional and amateur players from all over the country competing for a chance to be the very best. Like no one ever was. To catch them is my real tes- okay, sorry.

Remember this is the only USA Pickleball-sanctioned Open, so don’t lose sight of the matches, ‘cause the professional pickleball rankings will be affected by these games! We can surely expect some interesting singles, doubles, mixed-doubles and beer-pong matches. That last one will be me and my buddies watching the tournament from home.

The APA and the SPA have a new official ball!

The APA and the SPA are not acronyms for paper-writing formats but actually stand for the Amateur Pickleball Association (APA) and the Southern Pickleball Association (SPA), two of the most important governing bodies of the game. And now they announced the PCKL Elite 40, the official ball for their upcoming tournaments.

Does the name sound like a lost artifact from a Terminator movie? Yes. Am I slightly scared? For sure. It will still be used by thousands of players in over 85 tournaments across the country. So, now you know what you’ll use to destroy your opponents, literally if we are not careful enough.

National Pickleball Month is here

Did you know we had a whole National Pickleball Month? If your answer is “yes”, I love you. If it’s “no”, I still love you, only with less intensity.

It makes sense not to know, though, because USA Pickleball only just announced this celebration, which will take place in April and will be centered on four weekly themes:

April 1-8 – Why We Love Pickleball

April 9-15 – Up Your Game

April 16-22 – Member Appreciation

April 23-30 – What's Next/Looking Ahead

This is an opportunity to let mainstream audiences know about pickleball, and why we’re all suddenly canceling dates because we have more important matches to play. Sorry, Catherine, but a man has to have priorities.

Can we still reschedule?
