Plus: The Pickleball Slam beats the MLB, NHL, and NBA in TV ratings
courts ending in .98
Hello, everyone! This is Picklewho, the #1 website for all things pickleball, a safe place for players who still wonder “If it’s called pickleball, why isn’t it played with a pickle-shaped ball?”. I had the same doubt, but then realized it’d make many of us hungry, so I stopped asking questions.
And here’s the news!
This pickleball complex is size “American”

Meet one of the world’s largest pickleball venues
Having massive pickleball venues was a fever dream two years ago. If you told me we’d have a 80,000 square foot sports complex with over 28 pickleball courts by 2023, I would’ve told you “Kanye, please take your meds, this is all avoidable”.
But that’s exactly what Pickleball America is: a massive center in downtown Stamford, CT.; all equipped with pickleball courts, lockers, showers, a lounge, a café, and a childcare area. The first floor of the venue is already open, and the second one will be done in a couple of months, so feel free to check it out. Just don’t forget to grab your kids after your games, that’s not how childcare works.
Pickleball Slam literally slams the competition
Remember when Major League Pickleball's executive Steve Kuhn said that pickleball would be a top-five sport in the next five years, and everyone laughed? Boy, they shouldn’t have. With an averaged 669,000 views that peaked at 796,000 during the concluding doubles match, this weekend’s Pickleball Slam grabbed the spotlight of TV sports.
These numbers are bigger than thirteen nationally televised MLB games, seven NBA matchups, and five NHL games. Yes, it had the help of Andre Agassi, John McEnroe, and Andy Roddick, but who's counting?
Walmart to allow free rent of pickleball courts
Walmart, a direct witness and culprit of my weight gain in the last 5 years, is now letting customers and associates rent pickleball courts for free. But… Why is the multimillion-dollar company suddenly nice? Is it a hidden plot to control us, gain political power and establish a world domain ruled by tyranny and coupons?
Or is it just ‘cause they partnered with the sports booking platform Break the Love?
Yeah, that’s probably it. And as a consequence, Walmart will support the national expansion of pickleball and will give away at least 125,000 court reservations.
Hey, don’t know about you, but I’m always in for a free sample.
