Subway to sponsor Pickleball

Plus: Singapore youth embraces pickleball

I don’t not like subs

Hello, everyone! This is Picklewho, the only website where you’ll stay up-to-date with all things pickleball. It’s the Sportscenter of pickleball, but with less budget, heated debates and “sports”.

Without any further ado, here’s the news!

  • Singapore youth embraces pickleball.

  • This couple is on a mission to play pickleball IN ALL 50 STATES!

  • Subway to sponsor one of the biggest pickleball events of the year.

Pickleball craze takes over Singapore

Unlike country music and all of its variants, pickleball is destined to become an international hit. At the moment it’s getting increasingly popular in Singapore, where there are at least 2,000 active players embracing the sport.

In fact, older players in Singapore started noticing the arrival of young players, even 14 year-olds!, to courts. This debunks the stereotype that pickleball is for 1) seniors and 2)people obsessed with pickles. I fit in both categories.

By the way, to the one who started that stereotype: I’m coming for you as soon as my back pain allows me to. In the meantime, I only wonder if we ever see a Pickleball World Cup.

And I’m all for it!

Will this couple play pickleball in every state of the US?

Richard and Mary Jo Panettieri are a senior couple who started playing pickleball back in 2017. At that time, pickleball wasn’t popular, but fidget spinners and R. Kelly were, so… They’re visionaries, for sure!

Now, the couple’s on a mission to play pickleball in all 50 states of the U.S. before the end of the year. They are indeed ambitious as so far they have only completed six and it’s a difficult task. Why? Well, I’m sure Florida will be easy, but what happens when they arrive in Delaware? How do we know that even exists??? Could they have pickleball courts?

Who am I kidding? I’m writing this from Delaware.

Subway to become an official pickleball sponsor

Subway, the best sandwich brand for indecisive people, became an official pickleball sponsor during the Pickleball Slam. We already mentioned that this event will feature the return of Andre Agassi and John McEnroe to the courts, but this time to play a pickleball match.

The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but oh boy, when there's $1 million cash, you can be sure that it wasn’t a cheap deal.

However, one hard, potentially dark question remains: Will this affect sandwiches prizes?

God, please don’t let ‘em!
