Spain breaks a Pickleball world record

#RVs-r-the-best

What's up, folks? This is Pickewho, your main source for Pickleball content and cat-training. Today's lesson is titled “Haha, good luck with that cat” and it comes along with a mini-session called “Better get a dog”. Don't forget to check your email!

On the other hand, this is the latest news on the Pickleball industry:

  • This family moved to an RV to pursue a career in Pickleball!!!

  • I'm already sobbing: an amputee war veteran is using Pickleball to help kids whose parents have cancer.

  • Spain breaks a Pickleball world record!

This family is risking it all for Pickleball

What’s the biggest thing you’ve ever risked to play pickleball? Skipping a day at your job? A few dollars in gas? A date with your partner? Three dates with your partner? Four dates with your partner, who is now your ex? I’m so sorry, Angela.

Anyways, if you think you’ve sacrificed something big for Pickleball, think twice, because this Tampa Bay family (yes, it’s always people from Florida) surpasses us at every level. Meet Megan and Ryler DeHeart, a couple of Pickleball players who decided to live in an RV with their two children so they could travel across the country playing Pickleball tournaments.

They’ve been professional players for about a year, and even though they haven’t won any tournaments, their dream remains intact. You know what they say: if you dream it, you can do it. Just as I’ve dreamt of a future together, Angela. Think about it.

Does anyone have a napkin? ‘Cause I’m crying with this story

You see, I’m a sensitive person. In fact, I cry every time Vin Diesel says “family” in a Fast & Furious movie, which means I can cry 243 an hour.

So, you bet I cried A LOT with the story of Michael Smith, a war veteran who is using Pickleball to inspire others. 42 years after a helicopter accident in Japan left him with an amputated leg, Smith even plays Pickleball at a professional level.

And recently he signed up for a tournament in which all the money will go to children whose parents have cancer. Sadly, he lost, but you know what he did win? Our hearts. SO, Mr. Diesel, please give him a role in the 10th movie.

Spain for a Pickleball Guinness World Record!

On March 5, 2023, a group of 4 players from Spain  accomplished the unthinkable: a Guinness World Record for the longest game of Pickleball ever played. And yes, when I say “the unthinkable”, I mean “the unthinkable for me and 90% of regular Pickleball players”.

And now you’re wondering, how long did they play? Well…

24 HOURS!!!!!!!!!

A. Full. Day. I can’t even play for half an hour without apologizing to my kneecaps.

The game followed every official rule of Pickleball, and was held at the Lycée International Français Moliere court in Villanueva de la Cañada, Spain.

So, I extend my congratulations to the Spanish players… And also ask them to please share your cardio routine. Thank you.
