Silicon Valley geeks embrace Pickleball

Hey! How’s it going? This is Picklewho, the primary source of Pickleball news for every cool person in America, an umbrella term for everyone who reads this blog, except maybe my ex.

That was just a joke, Melissa. Please come back!

Today, our Red Bull-fueled copywriter, aka “me”, has brought the freshest top news surrounding our beloved sport. I need a raise.

And here they are:

  • Silicon Valley geeks embrace Pickleball

  • Dick's Sporting Goods introduces Pickleball brand into their stores

  • Think Pickleball, but fancier: premier Pickleball complex opens in Arizona

Not a only a place for “nerds” anymore: Silicon Valley becomes cool with Pickleball

Okay, we know that the title of this news is probably biased thanks to what we saw on The Social Network. We all know that Silicon Valley “nerds” have already been replaced by handsome IT guys who make at least $250,000 a year. It was all for attention.

Still, there was one thing missing from these rich programmers’ lives. Not choppers nor lambos, but pickleball! Because who needs the other two? Money can’t buy happiness, though it can buy a paddle and that’s close enough.

Not long ago, Silicon Valley investors and entrepreneurs started playing pickleball in the Lisa & Douglas Goldman Tennis Center. Why? Because it’s the world’s funniest networking tool!

And also a very legit, spectacular sport.

I guess it’s only a matter of time before Mark Zuckerberg ̶p̶r̶o̶g̶r̶a̶m̶s̶ ̶h̶i̶m̶s̶e̶l̶f̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶p̶l̶a̶y̶ sets foot on a Pickleball court.

(bleep)’s Sporting Goods signs deal with Pickleball brand

Ok, that was an easy joke.

Dick’s Sporting Goods, cross fitters’ and divorced dad’s favorite clothing brand, has finally signed a deal to sell Pickleball paddles. The brand? Nettie, of course!

As Pickleball fans know, Nettie is a hipster brand that only sells retro-styled paddles; which are perfect to play with people who still use Instagram to post photos. And by “people” I meant “me”.

Anyways, I guess I’ll see you at Dick’s!

Pricier Pickleball for bragging rights: premier Pickleball complex will go national

Though outdoor pickleball is amazing, we have to face the facts: if we could play inside a facility with nice air conditioning…

We’ll probably avoid it, because of the smell.

Yet what if I told you that there’s a new facility without the odor, but with amazing courts and all you’d ever need to improve your game? If your answer lies between “I love it” and “well, that won’t be cheap”, both are right.

Meet Pickleball Kingdom, the first premier Pickleball facility designed to offer top-notch pickleball indoor experience. As of for now, the only facility is located in Chandler, AZ, though it will soon expand to other states.

Is it affordable? Well…the annual plan starts at $935/year. I leave that for you to decide.

In the meantime, I’m giving myself a raise.
