Plus: Lollapalooza’s company donates half a million dollars to out cause

It’s someone’s nature

Hello, readers! Welcome to PickleWho, the #1 pickleball news blog on the internet. Mother’s Day is now 363 days around the corner, so this is a reminder to get her a lovely present. Next year I’m giving her the same as last: the joy of being my mother. Plus a couple of Snickers.

Anyways, here’s the news!

  • You can’t stop Anna Leigh-Waters

Denver’s Parks and Rec, meet your new nemesis

All pickleball players –minus Pallo Tellez– tend to be calm individuals. If you mess with them, though, except anything but peace. Now Denver’s Parks and Rec Board found this out the hard way.

You see, their Board recently banned pickleball from specific parks and canceled upcoming court projects due to noise complaints. So, 170 everyday heroes, 6,000 angels of the Denver Metro Pickleball Association and Bob (you know which) filed an appeal to overturn the decision. According to them, the decision was not properly notified to the players and the board never made recommendations to fix the issue.

In other words, players and Board became eternally bound to fight one another until one fades aways from existence. I’m rooting for Bob.

The company behind Lollapalooza wants some of the pie

C3 is responsible for one of the world’s top music — and hipster fashion — festivals. They are also currently in love with pickleball. I know you have questions, so I’ll answer them:

- Why? ‘Cause pickleball rocks.

- Since when? Since like…today.

- How? I guess you mean C3’s love language, which is gifts.

Yeap, gifts. The company donated $500,000 to Chicago’s Park District to convert six tennis courts into pickleball courts and build another eight. This brings the number of pickleball courts to 14, while reducing the number of fake sport courts by 6.

Now make Bad Bunny play in one of the new courts and they’ll win a Nobel Peace Prize.

Anna Leigh Waters’s business is as good as usual

Every time I hear the name “Anna Leigh Waters” my brain plays boss music. I’m talking Adele, Beyoncé. Rihanna, Tay-Tay, Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony.

After a few weeks of inaction, Leigh Waters went back to play the North Carolina Openand she didn’t disappoint. First, she won the women's doubles title along with Catherine Parenteau after defeating Yana Gretchkina and Lauren Stratman with a score of 11-3, 11-4, 11-0. Yeap, ELEVEN - ZERO.

Then, she went on to win the women’s singles final 11-1, 11-3 against Lea Jansen.

And when we thought “well, maybe she’s tired after playing the whole weekend”... She proceeded to win the mixed doubles finals with Jack Sock, with a score of 3-11, 11-2, 11-3.

This woman is pickleball´s Terminator. Somebody call Sarah Connor.
