Pickleball tournament in Daytona

Plus: Central Park Pickleball News

life’s a beach

Hello, everyone! This is Picklewho, the #1 pickleball website, one you can read anytime, anywhere: day, night, today, or yesterday, when all my troubles seemed so far away, and now it looks as though they're here to stay…Sorry, I miss John Lennon.

Anyways, here’s the news!

  • Pickleball is swallowing Central Park.

  • Major League Pickleball kicks off its second tournament in Daytona!

  • Celebrities can’t help falling in love with pickleball

Pickleball takes over Central Park

If movies (and news) are real, then Central Park is the best place in New York to walk dogs, watch a free concert and escape from thieves, but now you can add pickleball to the list. Why? ‘Cause the park will become the largest pickleball center of the entire northeast with 14 new courts that will start opening from April 17 to Oct. 9 in the Wollman Rink zone.

As a curiosity, the courts' floor will be made of an acrylic surface that rolls out like a carpet. They're not made of concrete! That's a new one for me, and a sign that I should maybe keep up with technology… Does anybody know where to buy an iPhone 6?

The MLP brings the heat to Daytona

The Mayor League Pickleball has just started its second tournament of the year in Daytona Beach, Florida, which means:

1) Another reason to live.

2) That’s it.

The format is the usual: a rally scoring system, a Premier Level with the 12 teams of four professional players and a Challenger Level with the next 48 promises of the game. I always thought I was one of them but they haven’t responded to any of my emails.

All eyes (and bets!) are placed on Anna Leigh Waters (New Jersey 5s) and Ben Johns (Seattle Pioneers). However, we should pay extra attention to the defending champions, the Angeles Mad Drops led by Catherine Parenteau. I'm already at the edge of my seat!

Entourage's creator LOVES picklebal

Entourage is one of the world’s favorite HBO shows. I say this with certainty because the series has 8 seasons and otherwise there’s no explanation really.

If you don’t love the series, though, here’s one good reason: Its showrunner and scriptwriter Doug Ellin is the latest celebrity to declare himself a pickleball fan!

According to an interview, he's not only working to get his skills to the next level, but he's also making some good friends along the way. And as you know, just like in any great movie, pickleball games at the amateur level can be won with the power of friendship.
