Tennis players raise a racquet as Palo Alto prepares to give pickleball players more court space at Mitchell Park.

The pickleball revolution is upon us, and Love again doesn't seem to mean much to tennis players.

That's the word from Palo Alto residents, who report an invasion of the courts by Pickleball enthusiasts.

With Pickleball exploding in popularity across the city, some tennis players are finding themselves relegated to the sidelines by groups of Pickleballers who are out to play and have fun.

But you guessed it... they're not going down without a challenge.

Many Mitchell Park tennis players complain that it is difficult for a tennis duo to ask a large group of pickleball players—who have taken over the courts during their prime time slot—to leave.

Additionally, the club's two multiuse (striped for both sports) courts make tennis serving highly inaccurate, making matches less than ideal.

There was also some concern surrounding how the loud noise made by Pickleball will negatively impact the park's neighbors.

On the other side, Pickleball players only have a few options around the city to play their favorite sport, compared to tennis players who have access to dozens of courts in the area.

The verdict?

The Parks and Recreation Commission is set to approve a new policy giving pickleball priority over tennis at all hours of the day, seven days per week. The city will adopt the policy for 6 months and revise it as needed moving forward.

Meanwhile, the city is preparing to form a new committee that will include tennis and pickleball players, with the ultimate goal of coming together to form a truce.

Will this be the Return of the Pickleball as the two forces join together to find a solution? Only time will tell.

Better Pickleball starts with dynamic stretching

You know how Pickleball is a great social activity that you can quickly learn and enjoy playing with friends and family?

Well, you won't be able to talk smack with your friends if your elbows are too tight and you're playing with a pulled muscle.

Instead, try out this 3-minute stretching routine, and you'll be ready for the best action of your life.

Be honest. Who wouldn't swap teams for a chance at a million dollars?

John McEnroe, Andre Agassi, Andy Roddick, and Michael Chang surely wouldn't pass up the opportunity.

They'll be showing off their versatile skills at the Inaugural Pickleball Slam on April 2, which will also welcome amateur Pickleball players to compete on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Up to 96 doubles teams will have a chance to win the $10,000 slam prize and face two of the tennis pros in a game of Pickleball.

That's all for today's break. Don't forget to stay snacky for more!
