Pickleball reaches The Late Show

mmmm, tv

What's up, everybody? This is Picklewho, the only place on the internet where you'll get Pickleball content, and a private investigator service that'll help you find anything but your Dad. I'm sorry to break it to you; he's not coming back with that milk.

Now that we’re done with the bad news, let’s get into Pickleball!

  • WTF is the Pickleball Derangement Syndrome?

  • This Pickleball pro threw a paddle to the audience!

  • Pickleball reaches The Late Show with Stephen Colbert!

Do you suffer from Pickleball Derangement Syndrome?

It finally happened. After months of growth and endless fighting against tennis players that won’t get their courts back, pickleball achieved its own disease.

Meet Pickleball Derangement Syndrome, a rare condition that affects people who can’t stop playing Pickleball. Its symptoms? Doing ANYTHING to play the game, enduring elbow pain, buying expensive equipment, or sending their kids abroad.

The syndrome has gone as far as to affect centennials who thought the game was only for boomers. It’s probably affecting you, right now, while you’re reading a Pickleball blog… which is wild if you really think about it for more than a minute.

So don’t.

Pickleball audience loves beer and beer kinds digs the pickleball audience and that’s a good thing most of the time. Still, other times someone crosses the line of alcoholism, kills everyone’s mood and you are left thinking that is the worst thing that could happen during a game.

Well, it isn’t.

On February 25th, DJ Young slammed a paddle onto the ground after losing a point, the paddle bounced, and reached the heads of fans sitting courtside. Luckily no one was hurt in the process, though it could’ve been the funniest injury in the history of sports.

A few days later, Young was fined an undisclosed sum of money and a potential lawsuit. The paddle pleaded the Fifth.

Pickleball makes its Late Show debut?

Kinda. Here’s what happened:

Steven Colbert made a joke about Pickleball, mocking the group of neighbors who accused players of “bullying children” and “public urination on the playground and sensory garden”.

Is it the best way to reach the late nights’ audience? Nope.

Is it still a “Hey mom, look! I’m on TV!” moment? Yeap.
