Pickleball is peak TV

Plus: A paddle created by women, for women

screen time = high

Hello, folks! Welcome to PickleWho, the #1 pickleball news blog. Monday’s finally here, and I know you’re sad because Monday is kind of the worst day, but save those tears for something more important. Fast X’s premiere is around the corner.

Anyways, here’s the news!

  • Pickleball is peak TV.

  • A paddle created by women, for women.

  • How to flow with the wind

Pickleball destroys TV ratings

Remember the survey that claimed people weren’t interested in watching pickleball on TV? Well, pickleball has demonstrated (AGAIN!) that no science is conclusive when it comes to diminishing its impact.

1.25 million people saw last week’s PPA Newport Beach tournament on CBS, CBS Sports Network, and Tennis Channel. That means pickleball performed better than three playoff NBA games, 17 MLB games, and the latest Ant-Man movie. Probably.

Keep releasing “surveys”, and pickleball will keep doing numbers…

A paddle for the ladies!

Pickleball lacks two key components:

1) Female-only equipment.

2) Matches won by me.

Luckily, the best female player in the world, Beth Bellamy, designed the ProXR's Diamond Series paddle to fix the first issue with the help of…baseball? Wut?

Yes, you read it ̶w̶r̶i̶t̶e̶ right. This paddle is inspired by baseball bats tailor-made to boost the ball exit velocity. Hence, it features a slimmer handle that offers superb control, and a fiberglass face that delivers the most powerful shots.

By the way, “Delivers the most powerful (tequila) shots” was also the reason for my third divorce, so be careful.

How to play better in the wind

Playing pickleball in the middle of the wind sucks. I mean, we play with a wiffle ball. No holes in it! One good shot, and it’s no longer a pickleball: it’s a missile.

So, what can we do to improve our game under harsh conditions? Be water, my friend. Or in this case, be wind and just let it guide you.

- If the wind is on your back, let it push you forward towards the net.

- If you feel the wind on your chest, let it push you a step back from your normal position.

- If it comes from the right side, take a step left, and shoot to your opponent’s left side. Vice versa works too, I’ve heard.

- Take one step left and one step right. One to the front and one to the side. Clap your han-...

Okay, sorry. Just Monday vibes.
