Pickleball injuries are as trendy as the sport itself

Close your eyes and imagine you're hearing a paddle hitting the ball. Shoes move back and forth on the court floor. Now, the deafening scream of a 58-year-old player who just tore his ACL. For the 17th time. This week.

Yup, sounds like a regular Pickleball day.

Injuries are a serious topic, folks and they are increasing at the same rate as the newcomers to the sport.  Are we worried? Yes.  Will we stop playing? No. Will I continue to ask questions only to answer them myself?...

I’m legally obligated to clarify that I'm no expert (we cool now, fed?), but here are some tips to avoid getting yourself hurt:

●     Warm up and stretch before each game

●     Exercise often

●     Eat healthy

●     NEVER mix diet coke, bananas and skim milk. Trust me, it’s not as delicious as it sounds.

Tom Brady retires from Football and he's ready for Pickleball

Less than 48 hours ago, history’s best and most handsome (handsomest?) quarterback announced his retirement from professional football... Again.

Brady’s departure was sad news for football fans, but interesting news for our sport. Why? ‘Cause Brady LOVES Pickleball. Or at least his money loves it as he has invested a lot. Enough to buy yourself a nice massage. Or two. Or more. We have no actual idea of how much a massage costs.

Still, only three questions remain:

-       Will Tom Brady play professional Pickleball?

-       Will Pickleball gather an audience as big as the Super Bowl?

-       Will you still love me tomorrow?

Pickleball, the cure for the DIS-engagement disease

According to Wall Street Journal and Gallup, workers hate their offices, their coworkers and overall, well, their jobs. I still can’t recall when I was interviewed, but they got it right.

So, what can managers do to make it slightly better besides eliminating late hours and raising salaries to the inconceivable realm of: “Hey, that’s decent”?

You see, the sport’s nature is one that fosters camaraderie like no other but the navy. But Glenn from HR won’t make it in the navy and neither could I. Since anyone can play Pickleball, considering it as an extra-work activity could create healthier work environments.

In next week's episode of How Pickleball Saves Us All we’ll tell you what it can do to Climate Change. Stay tuned!
