darkness my old friend…

Hello, folks! Welcome to PickleWho, the #1 pickleball news blog on the internet. Today is a perfect day to reconnect with high school colleagues and think, "wow, why did I do this? I hate these people!”. Happened to a friend.

Now, let’s move on with the important news!

USA Pickleball schedules a new championship!

2023 USA Pickleball Indoor National Championships is a new member of the forever growing list of tournaments who desperately need a shorter name. Even with an acronym, it’s too much. USAPINC sounds more like a classified government project than a pickleball tournament. Maybe I’m onto something…

Anyways, USAPINC just opened its registration. The games will take place from September 19th to 23rd in Atlantic City and, besides featuring the world's best players, it will add new cushioned courts from Pickleball United’s True Court. This way players will be able to play and take their respective naps right away.

These indoor courts have serious technology

AI technology moves as fast as my dogs every time they see a hose and pickleball is no safe haven, as of now players from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania will soon compete against Chat-GPT-powered robot players.

Okay, that one’s a lie. Sorry.

However, there is some truth to that. Ace Pickleball Club plans to add advanced tech features to the game, introducing climate control, glow-in-the-dark tournaments, live stream support, instant replay, and more. Of course, with all this new tech, the courts’ pricing might end up being more unbelievable than the technology itself.

What can’t tape lead do for you?

Tape lead fixes everything but my marriage and trust me I’ve tried. And guess what? It’s also a pretty valuable complement to pickleball paddles. Here’s how: adding tape leads to your paddle increases spin rate, durability, shots consistency and even makes you more confident, I’ve heard.

To enjoy the full benefits one must distribute the tape in the following areas:

- Top of the paddle to boost power.

- Middle of the paddle to raise stability and prevent undesirable rotation.

- Close to the handle to reduce the impact on hand speed.

Players like Lucy Kovalova and Ben Johns are already using it to improve their game, even if they don’t need it. Seriously, guys, stop improving. .
