Pickleball helps you live longer

Plus: Amazon’s Prime Video features a new pickleball channel.

live 4-eva

Hello, everyone! This is Picklewho, the #1 pickleball blog on the internet. Today is Thursday, or as I like to call it “two days away from ghosting my boss and waking up at 4 pm”. Have a nice rest of the week!

Now, today’s news:

  • Pickleball helps you live longer

  • US Pickleball Open will enforce new rules

  • Amazon’s Prime Video features a new pickleball channel.

Play pickleball to live forever

Ok, that was an overstatement. To live longer*. at least according to double board-certified psychiatrist Dr. Daniel Amen. Why? ‘Cause it works out more than just your muscles: they also develop your cerebellum, parietal, and frontal lobes, which improve your overall health and lifespan.

To be honest, Dr. Amen said “racket sports”, but since we are not counting tennis, let’s assume neither does he.

US Pickleball Open to change paddle rules

As the Minto US Pickleball Open gets closer, things have to get in order. For instance, I’m preparing my wallet finances to take a $300 hit to buy snacks and the organization released an interesting statement: players are required to play using USAP-approved paddles with USAP-approved designation. However, a player can contest the paddle of another competitor at any point in the tournament, prompting tournament authorities to seize the paddle and send it to a lab for additional testing.

If the paddle is found to be altered, the owner will be sent immediately to Azkaban.

Ok, maybe not Azkaban, but Guantanamo.

Ok, maybe not Guantanamo, but he or she would face a 1-year suspension and any prize won will be forfeited. Are we up for some drama? Let’s hope not.

Prime Video has a new pickleball channel!

Don’t unsubscribe from Prime Video after finishing Fleabag for the seventh time (this weekend). You might miss out on PickleTV, Prime’s new pickleball channel with professional matches, tutorials, interviews, and original content 24/7.

PickleTV is free, though ad-supported. This means you can watch your favorite matches, and have a break to reply to your partner’s texts
