Plus: Insurance won’t cover your elbow injury from playing Pickleball

Hello, folks! Welcome to Picklewho, your best source of content for both Pickleball news, and occasional Tinder dating advice. Here’s this week’s advice: don’t spend $20 on that Platinum subscription. Trust me, it’s not worth it.

And now that we’re done with that, let’s hop on to more Pickleball news!

  • Kevin Durant invests in Pickleball AGAIN.

  • Insurance won’t cover your elbow injury from playing Pickleball? This article’s for you!

  • Angela Simon: from tennis star, to Pickleball SUPER-star

Kevin Durant loves pickleball, pickleball loves Kevin Durant

Or at least his money!

Kevin Durant is an NBA star, proud burner accounts enthusiast and even prouder pickleball team owner. But Durant wants more. That’s why he just invested in Pickleheads, a website that helps you find courts and wants to expand on the court registration and membership business.

Durant and his partners raised over $750,000 to fund the project and to that we say: thank you for boosting our sport. The man deserves to be defended by every single burner account in the world.

Angela Simon: from old tennis pro, to Pickleball talent

If you don’t remember Angela Simon, 1994 NCAA women's singles champion and former world #25 in doubles ranking, that’s alright. An accurate way to describe her would be “she was good!”. An even more accurate way to describe her would be: “She’s a complex human being who deserves love and respect as we all do.” Yes, folks, I’ve been to therapy.

But what happens when a good tennis player enters pro Pickleball? As we’ve seen, they do fairly well.

Simon got into the pro-Pickleball senior circuit in 2020, the best year in your entire life if your name is Pand Emic. And last year, she won both the Hilton Head Open and the Boca Raton Masters, while also finishing no less than fourth place in all other tournaments she’s been in.

So, Serena… Why don’t you give Pickleball a try? We’d love to have you!

You love pickleball, pickleball hates your elbow

Just like sweaty palms and the power of friendship, elbow injuries play a main part of Pickleball…especially as an excuse for all the games I’ve lost against my grandpa.

Nevertheless, it has to stop. So, I hid in a basement for 6 weeks to focus my entire energy in finding the world’s best advice in order to stop elbow pain once in for all. My search lasted 3 hours and I spent the rest of the time just trying to avoid people…and here’s what I found:

  • Stretch before every game: you get it, just avoid wearing skinny clothes. We don’t want any more accidents.

  • Strengthen the shoulder area: experts suggest ball squeezes, lightweight repetitions, resistance bands and flexi - bar exercises.

  • Use the RICE method: RICE stands for rest, ice (on your injury), compression, and elevation. So, no, you don’t have to eat rice, though that helps too if you’re hungry.
