How much money do senior pro players earn?

Plus: Who's a big deal? Parris Todd.

silver baller

Hello folks! Welcome back to PickleWho. Today is a Tuesday, which means there's a slight chance that Disney will announce one more unnecessary live-action of an animated classic. Fingers crossed it isn’t Brother Bear.

Anyways, here's the news!

  • Why did the PPA Tour fine Pablo Tellez?

  • How much money do senior pro players earn?

  • Parris Todd can’t stop being the big deal

Pablo Tellez gets fined.

Boy, I love drama and the PPA is giving it to me after fining Pablo Tellez. Why did they do it, though?

Saturday’s match between Tellez and Federico Staksrud vs James Ignatowich and Tyson McGuffin was absurdly tense. Not an usual adjective to describe our sport. But Tellez and certain audience members had an ongoing confrontation during the match, which might have cost the win for the duo.

By the end of it, Tellez directed an obscene hand gesture to the audience (not gonna say which, momma taught me manners) and security had to intervene to prevent the first MMA fight in the history of pickleball.

Even if we don’t know how much money Tellez was fined, we do know one thing: tea was served.

Senior players to get as much money as young pros

… At least in one tournament. I’d still count that as a win.

The Delray Beach Pickleball Open wants to shake things a bit and will offer equal prize money (up to $30K for the winners) to every pro division.

In most sports, the prize money for senior divisions tends to be way less than for the younger pros. Pickleball was, and in most cases is, no different. As Rafiki once said: “The circle of life ends with a wage gap”. But hey, at least Senior Pros can be homeowners.

Parris Todd dominates the US Pickleball Open

Parris Todd just crowned herself as the U.S. Queen of Pickleball –a title I just invented, you’re welcome, ma’am– after winning a Triple Crown in the U.S. Open.

Early last week, she secured the title of the women’s pro division, and then proceeded to sweep the competition in the doubles and mixed doubles matches this Saturday. Todd was so badass she refused to answer any questions from reporters except for the Pickleball Channel. Queen slays and secures herself as a new contender for the #1 spot in the Women’s Division.
