Brace yourselves: a war on pickleball is coming

Plus: Skechers and Canada have some plans

I’m ready

Hello, readers! Welcome to PickleWho, a pickleball news blog with a goal in mind: to ̶a̶c̶h̶i̶e̶v̶e̶ ̶w̶o̶r̶l̶d̶ ̶d̶o̶m̶i̶n̶a̶t̶i̶o̶n̶ help pickleball become the world’s superior sport. You’re free to join our cause as long as you bring us some nachos.

Here’s the news!

  • The deaf community loves pickleball.

  • Skechers and Canada have some plans

  • Brace yourselves: a war on pickleball is coming

You don’t have to listen to feel it.

Arizona isn’t just the land of Emma Stone and John Rambo? (yes, I looked it up). It’s also the home of the Arizona Deaf Pickleball League, an extraordinary project with over 400 registered players.

The League’s main goals are promoting pickleball among the deaf community, teaching ASL language across different demographics and taking revenge after the Sound of Metal was robbed at the Oscars for not winning Best Picture. Now, thanks to pickleball, hearing people are learning ASL and they’re doing it ‘cause communication is key in this sport.

Personally, I want to learn ASL to 1) brag about being bilingual and 2) trash-talk with my hands. That’d be savage!

Skechers enters the Canadian pickleball league

Yesterday, we covered the announcement of the world’s most polite sports organization: Canada’s National Pickleball League. Today, it seems like the league took a HUGE step to capitalize on the pickleball craze after  announcing its partnership with Skechers. Yes, the same company that sponsors America’s PPA Tour.

With this deal, Skechers is only a few countries away from sponsoring every pickleball league in North America. Is Guatemala next? Maybe, and this ain’t no joke.

What’s up with Charles Barkley?

Seems like Shaq’s pranks are taking a toll on Charles Barkley’s mind? First, he said that cats aren’t real pets for some reason (he probablyneeds the attention). And then, the former NBA star commented on Denver Nuggets head coach Michael Malone's love for pickleball: “Pickleball is old man and old woman sport”. When confronted with facts about pickleball being the country’s fastest-growing sport, he simply doubled down on his statement.

Mr. Barkley. With all due respect, you’re 60 years old. If your statement is true, you’ll love pickleball. more than your Philadelphia 76ers era. Don’t trust me, trust America.
